Our latest thoughts

Welcome to our blog where we share our latest thoughts on the game of golf.

Time to reflect on a strange six months

When we sat down at the end of 2020, we had high hopes for 2021 and our respective golf games! Weโ€™d planned loads of great content ideas, identified the 21 courses we wanted to play in 2021 and the ways we hoped to grow Nine Hole Golf. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing pandemic, we haveโ€ฆ

Rye Hill Golf Club – course review

We got back out on the course before Lockdown 2 at Rye Hill Golf Club. Before England went into a national lockdown for the second time in 2020 we managed to get in a round at Rye Hill Golf club in Oxfordshire. The Par 73 layout makes good use of the natural landscape it sitsโ€ฆ

The Masters Debrief

So the number 1 player in the world now has a green jacket. From day 1 Dustin Johnson never looked like losing this one. He played smart and within himself and could go through the gears if he needed to. But most of all he didn’t make any mistakes. His record score was a justโ€ฆ

A Masters unlike any other

To say 2020 has been unlike any in living memory would be an understatement! And as if to put an exclamation point on that from a golfing point of view, we are about to enjoy back to back Masters tournaments for the first time in history. The winner of the 2020 Masters will quite possiblyโ€ฆ

Sapey Golf Club – course review

We braved the elements and headed out to Sapey Golf and Country Club. So let’s be upfront and say that we played the course in truly horrendous weather, it would have come as no surprise had the club decided to close for the day, but full credit to the greenkeepers for getting it playable. Withโ€ฆ

U.S. Open preview

We take a look at the 120th U.S. Open at Winged Foot. The 120th showing of the U.S. Open starts on September 17th at Winged Foot golf club on the northern outskirts of New York. Originally scheduled for June but postponed to September due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be held like the PGAโ€ฆ

Bransford Golf Club – course review

We had never heard of Bransford Golf Club until a friend of ours told us that he had become a member there. He kept raving about how good the course is and how we had to come down and review it. When he offered to organise a round for all three of us to playโ€ฆ

Are 200 yard plus par 3 holes just too long?

How long is too long? Do you play a long par 3 as a par 4? Do you enjoy them? All fair questions. I personally think all par 3โ€™s should be under 200 yards. As an 18 hcp, I get a shot a hole and when Iโ€™m stood on the tee of a par 3โ€ฆ
