Welcome to Nine Hole Golf

Welcome to Nine Hole Golf! This is the first of what we hope will be many blogs documenting our search for the best nine holes in golf. Why go searching for the best nine rather than eighteen? Well this all started with me (Toby) being bored one evening back in April. It should have been Masters week but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the tournament had rightly been cancelled. As I reflected on the Tiger’s incredible win at last year’s Masters tournament, I realised that I’d been neglecting one of my true passions. I hadn’t picked up my clubs in over three months. So on April 15th I started an Instagram account to share my passion for the best game in the world.

So why the name? Well at the time I knew I wasn’t going to be playing much golf in 2020, my wife and I were expecting our second child. So I decided to commit to playing nine holes of golf every two weeks. I figured that was manageable with the time I had and would give me a good golfing fix. Also it would give me enough golf to improve my handicap.

As it turned out, the pandemic led to me being furloughed so I had way more time than anticipated. Following the birth of my second child, a little boy called Finley, I decided to share what I had been doing with my best mate. This is where Jeremy enters the story, he is my best mate and golfing partner in crime. Jeremy’s arrival in the story is where things got interesting. He suggested that rather than just trying to play nine holes regularly, why don’t we set off on a quest to find the best nine holes in golf?

Overnight @Nine_Hole_Golf was no longer an Instagram account to share golf photos. It became the place where we share our golfing adventures, as we seek out the best nine holes in golf. We have no idea where this adventure will take us, but we are incredibly excited to be embarking on it and sharing it with fellow golf lovers!

What can you expect from Nine Hole Golf? How will it be different from other golf blogs? Simple really, as we are on a mission to find the best nine holes in golf, you can expect a LOT of golf course reviews! As we both don’t have single figure handicaps (Jeremy is off 18 and I am off 24), we’ll be blogging about what the experience was like for the average club golfer.

Between us we have played loads of courses but we are wiping the slate clean and starting fresh. From now on all courses we review will be treated as if we have never played them before. As we travel the UK we will be sharing our experience via this blog and our YouTube channel (coming soon).

In addition to golf course reviews we will also be sharing our views on the games latest topics, whether that is the great distance debate, the impact on the Covid-19 pandemic on golf or the changing trends in the game. There will also be plenty of content about the development of our golf games. I have already locked in my personal goal for 2021, I want to bring my handicap down to 21!!

This is our first step and we look forward to you joining us on this journey as we go in search of the best nine holes in golf!
